IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE:-
a) Sound the alarm
b) Dial
to call the fire brigade
c) If possible tackle the fire using the appliances provided
but do not endanger yourself or others in doing so.
IF YOU HEAR THE FIRE ALARM:-
d) Leave the building by the nearest available exit:-
e) Close all the doors behind you.
f) Report to person in charge of assembly point at:-
g) Do not stop to collect personal belongings.
Do not use the lift.
Never re-enter the building for any reason unless
authorised to do so.

IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE:-
a) Immediately operate the nearest fire alarm call point
b) Attack the fire if possible with the appliances provided but
do not take personal risks.
IF YOU HEAR THE FIRE ALARM:-
c)
will call
the fire brigade immediately by exchange telephone,
(Always call the fire brigade immediately to every fire or
suspicion of fire)
1 Lift the receiver and dial ‘999’
2 Give the operator your telephone number and
ask for FIRE.
3 When the fire brigade replies give the call distinctly:-

DO NOT replace receiver until the address has been
repeated by the FIRE BRIGADE.
d) Leave the building and report to the person in charge of
assembly point
USE THE NEAREST AVAILABLE EXIT
Do not stop to collect personal belongings
Do not use the lift
Never re-enter the building until authorised to do so.

3 The procedure for calling the FIRE BRIGADE
4 Ensure all doors to and from corridors are kept closed
they are installed as a barrier against fire

FIRE INSTRUCTIONS
FOR STAFF
IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE:-
a) Ensure that no-one is in immediate danger
b) Raise the alarm by sounding the nearest fire alarm
c) Attempt to tackle the fire with the correct appliances
unless the fire is beyond obvious control.
d) If the fire is beyond control evacuate the
building closing as many doors as possible.
IF YOU HEAR THE FIRE ALARM:-
e) Staff should if necessary see that persons are evacuated
from the building and a roll call taken
f) A designated person should call the fire brigade in
accordance with the relevant instructions. Ensure the
fire brigade is called to every fire or suspicion of fire.

Staff should acquaint themselves with the sound of the fire alarm, location
of the break glass points and fire fighting equipment. It is equally important to know of
primary and alternative escape routes as well as the location of the fire assembly point.

If you discover a fire
Raise the alarm by breaking
the glass of the nearest
Fire Alarm Operating Point.
Call for assistance and IF SAFE TO DO SO, attack the fire with
the fire fighting equipment provided. If the fire should get
out of control, or if your escape route is threatened,
LEAVE THE BUILDING AT ONCE.
On hearing the fire alarm
Leave the building at once, quickly and calmly by the nearest
available route. Escape routes are indicated by Green signs.
Assist with the evacuation of visitors.
DO NOT stop to collect personal belongings.
If you suspect that there is a fire on the other side of a door,
DO NOT open it.
As you leave the building, ensure that all the fire doors and
windows on your route are closed.
When clear of the building - proceed to
YOUR DESIGNATED ASSEMBLY POINT
DO NOT use the lifts.
DO NOT re-enter the building until told to do so
by the Nominated Fire Officer
